All Knee Arthroplasty is done at Juravinski Hospital or St. Josephs Hospital
Replaces an arthritic knee joint with an artificial metal and plastic replacement.
It is one of the most successful operations available today and could mean the difference between leading a normal life or putting up with a debilitating condition.
Primary Arthroplasty:
- for people with arthritis of the knee that have failed conservative treatment (NSAIDS, weight loss, injections)
- expected to last for 20 years
- done as Day Surgery in healthy patients under 70 yo
- Injections will delay arthoplasty by 6 months
Revision
- for my patients with failed arthroplasty (generally due to wear over 20 years)
